Protect Your Computer from Malware and Spyware
The World Wide Web is full of malicious software, also known as malware. Left unprotected, a computer system can sustain serious damage from malware attacks. However, you can protect your computer and networks from malicious software with a variety of pro
There are two categories of malware, namely viruses and spyware.
The first malware category is viruses. Viruses are programs that penetrate your executable files, and when executed, replicate themselves by jumping onto other programs, data files, or the hard drives boot sector. Viruses can be countered by installing antivirus software, like McAfee, Norton, Eset and many more, depending on your needs. An antivirus will not only scan and remove any existing viruses from your computer, but will also make frequent scheduled scans that will prevent any other viruses from entering your system.
The second malware category is spyware. Spyware is software that attaches itself to your browser or downloaded files. It then enters the system to gather information, without your knowledge or consent, and send that information back to companies or organizations, for consumer surveys and other ungainly, and even illegal, usage. The most dangerous spyware can even take control of your computer, locking you out entirely. Install anti-spyware software, like Malwarebytes, SUPERAntiSpyware, Spybot SnD, and others, to protect and cleanse your system from spyware. Like antivirus programs, anti-spyware software make frequent database updates, and scans for new threats and risks.
Antivirus and anti-spyware software come in a wide range of prices, and some of the best are actually free to use. Both types of programs make regular database updates, so they can detect and disable even the newest malware released. It is recommended that you install and frequently use both an antivirus and an anti-spyware program, for complete and overall system-wide protection.
